The Mauch Chunk, Summit Hill & Switch-Back Railroad was a coal-hauling and tourist railroad in the mountains of Pennsylvania (near today’s Jim Thorpe) that operated between 1828 and 1932. It was the first operational US railway of any substantial length to carry paying passengers.
