Enjoy some Hot Apple Pie just like served on the Delaware & Hudson Railway.
The Delaware & Hudson provided passenger service between New York City
and Montreal, serving the grand horse racing track at Saratoga, the Adirondack
Mountains and the scenic western shore of Lake Champlain. Its dining cars served the wealthy New
Yorkers on their way to these vacation destinations as well as business
travelers and tourists on their way to French Quebec.
Apple pie was a favorite dessert offering, giving the chefs an opportunity
to use the many famous varieties of apples grown in New York State. The railroad’s instruction manual and recipe
book advised that fine-quality apples should not be boiled before making this
pie, but coarse apples should.
Our mix makes one Apple Pie.
