Atlantic Coast Line Scones.
The Atlantic Coast Line offered passenger service connecting New York City with Miami and other warm vacation destinations. In 1928, the superintendent of the Atlantic Coast Line Dining Car Department began a program to improve both the service and the food selections offered on their trains. The results included hearts of Florida celery, Virginia mangoes, bass from the Potomac River, Virginia bacon, Florida fruit salad and scones. Scones added an international flair to the traditional American breakfast offerings and remained a popular item well into the 1960’s. Our mix is a faithful recreation of this recipe.
