Boston & Maine Railroad New England Brown Bread Mix

Boston & Maine style Brown Bread mix.  Boston Brown Bread is a classic New England treat!  This molasses-rich, dense brown bread is chewy, with a density approaching traditional pumpernickel and studded with raisins, usually fried in butter and served.  On the Boston & Maine it was served alone or alongside baked beans with plenty of salt pork in them, as well as hot dogs that, like the bread, were also fried in butter.  In addition to being an accompaniment to baked beans and franks, brown bread—again, fried in butter, could be found for breakfast, drizzled with maple syrup.   We include the B&M’s original coffee can recipe.

Our 24 oz mix contains No Additives or Preseratives   Ingredients:  Stone Ground White Corn Meal, Stone Ground Rye Meal, Non-Fat Dry Milk, Whey, Stone Ground, Graham Flour, Baking Sode, & Salt.  Contains Wheat & Milk.  May contain traces of nuts.
